Recently, in the worrying place that is my head, I made a promise to myself to write here at least once a week, to update whoever reads this (my Mum) on where I'm up to on what I'm up to.
Somehow, between starting new jobs and American Horror Story marathons, that once again turned in to waiting a month before posting again.
Old habits die hard.
At the moment, much to the boy's despair of my never ending yarn stash, I have three projects on the go.
I shall try and make posting once a week where I am up to with each a new habit!
A Friday update if you will!
So sit tight, fasten your seatbelt's and here we go!

- Knitting a pair of socks
- Crocheting a big Granny Square blanket
- And last but certainly not least - 'Operation Turnip'

Socks
Much to my dismay...
I have finished one sock.
And... it resembles a sock!
Let's see, at last update I had a slightly fancy be-heeled Leg warmer.

Now, no matter what Gok says... The 80's aren't coming back that quickly. So it was in my best interest to get a toe on that sock as soon as possible!
I used elements of the Fish Lips Kiss Heel and another (free) pattern i found from Kate Gilbert to work towards the toes, and figure out what on earth to do when i got there.
Through perseverance, a pot of tea and several trips to youtube (Kitchener stitch? Actaul Sorcery.) I ended up with...

I had one warm pair of toes!
As I saw it I had three options
Right now, i'm hovering somewhere in between 2 & 3.
But first, a quick Instagram.
As I saw it I had three options
- I could either alternate wearing the sock on each foot.
- I could wear the shop bought socks i have in my drawer.
- I could hurry up and finish the flipping second sock! Why do we have to have two feet?!

Blanket
For some reason or other, I'd had this as my next 'big' project for a while now. Also, I started this in order to use up some of the wool i had knocking about with no purpose. If you've read the beginning of my blog you'll know a lot of the wool i started out with came from my Nana. A year or so later, I've realised that it's really nice wool, apparently she wasn't one to skimp on a good Aran. So, I thought what better use for it than something to keep me warm on a chilly winter night! My plan for it, as it is such a simple granny square pattern, is that i can just keep adding to it and adding to it, so really it's a bit of a never ending project! At the moment, it's looking like this: |
Colour wise...I don't really have a plan...Just whatever grey/blue/green I find next.
I started using two Arans together so it was nice and chunky and would grow quite quickly.
The grey on the outside and in the box came from a Rowan jumper that my brother got when he worked there as a graphic designer. It was lovely wool, but not a jumper to any of our family's taste/sizing. So, I unravelled it and stashed it away till it came in useful.
Sadly my brother no longer works there, so no more free Rowan wool for me, boo.
He is, however, in one of the catalogues, serving some knitwear, popped collar, Blue Steel realness.

Free wool comes and goes, but that is forever.

Operation Turnip.
This is a bit of a secret one.
Shhh.
It's a baby blanket, but I can't say who it's for as they've not yet made it Facebook official!
I've been asked to make a granny square blanket.
I went to Make, where they had a penny per gram sale on baby wool. Score.
So far i have two squares... so it's more of a fancy duster than a blanket.

My plan was to use the same colours, but different patterns for each square.
Unfortunately...even after blocking, they're different sizes, which could be a bit of a problem when joining them together.
But fear not, I do have another plan, as i know of two sproglets on the way!
Again, the identity of the second sproglet is a secret as they've not made it Facebook official either. (Hurry up people! This is pressure I cannot handle!)
Plan B - I may repeat one Granny Square pattern to make a blanket for Sproglet A and repeat the other pattern for Sproglet B.
I have nine months to get cracking with these!
Maybe it's best to not start anything else just yet.
Pfft. Who am i kidding?!
